Alejandro Casanova (@casanova_ale) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Alejandro is a painter and teacher from Spain specialized in portraits and nudes, he uses color and light as the major focal points of his technique. Working primarily with watercolors he paints by layers and makes the most out of this combination to generate awesome pieces.

I find fascinating the way he studies and represents the human body, it seems like every work is capturing a strange movement or moment, with natural yet unconventional poses. I mean he almost never paints a face or a body that was there as a model, most of the times he captures a frame in time that seems to be random, but I actually think he choses them very carefully.

I like the fact that both the portraits, while being very different one from each other, are not trying to hide the brush strokes. With very decise and strong shapes he’s able to show lights and shadows creating a realistic image, with a wonderful effect even when there’s just a single color to be used.

The oil piece in the end surprised me for the details in the environment surrounding the woman. I’m speaking about the shower curtain and the floor tiles, which in my opinion were amazingly made.

What do you think about Alejandro? Do you also love what’s going on here?
