Erika Horváth Gáborovna (@gaborovnaart) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Erika is a an artist and designer based in Auckland, New Zealand. On IG you can find all sorts of illustrations, digital and traditional, black and white or colored (even tho lately b&w seems to be her go to style, if you scroll down she made quite a few colorful artworks in the past).

Whether she’s drawing a human face, an animal, a complete character or just some detail I always found something really particular in her illustrations. It has to be the subject, a little twist on reality, a strange point of view or really anything but you can be sure most of the times there will be some peculiar trait that will force you to look twice and think about the artwork and its meaning. It’s not easy to come up with original ideas and present them so well, which is one of the reasons why I like her profile so much and why I find it inspiring.

The first image shows an amazing drawing, I think the style and the accuracy on this one are top notch. Please take a moment to zoom in (you can click the image here or take a look at the original post where she shared a close up pic) and think about two details: the first one being the delicacy the hands have in their caress, the second one being the bright lines covering the mouth, what they represent and their true meaning. It’s these kind of things that turn a drawing into one of Erika’s art pieces, and I love them.

Second pic is yet another original take on a portrait from her, both the hands and of course the face itself have some nice tricks on them. Notice how the hair are kinda “continuous” in contrast to the face that’s splitting up. Cool drawing, like it!

What do you think about Erika? Do you also love what’s going on here?
