Jessica Jane (@sijesns) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Jessica is a traditional artist, she loves to paint animals and portraits and mostly does that using watercolors or gouache. Her style is quite unique I would say, there’s something on her use of colors and lights that seems to be “outlining” the subject on the canvas. She doesn’t do that always but pretty frequently I would say, and I learnt to use it as a trait to recognize her artworks from all the rest.

On IG she usually shares palettes and timelapse videos on top of the finished piece which makes the posts that much more interesting, so it’s never a bad time to take a look at her feed and “swipe around”.

The first image is an amazing close up on a “not so frequent” action, she chose something you normally don’t see on a painting and made it look cool. In this one you can notice her lights and shadows skills as well as the red outline I was talking about. The same tone is used on the hair and the face a bit to highlight some spots but it’s not quite a “light” reflection since it’s there in darker areas too. This peculiar combination is strongly defining in my opinion and I like it! Awesome piece.

The other two pictures are both self portraits in gouache, they have nice posts with video content attached and really feel like Jessica’s art because of the colors and the style they were made with (and not only cause she’s literally on them!). A particular thing I love about the second one are all the plants she painted, I like to take care of some at home too and I had fun searching and saying “I have that one!” a couple times.

What do you think about Jessica? Do you also love what’s going on here?
