Julia Kamenskikh (@julia.kamenskikh) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Julia is an artist based in Savannah, Georgia. She paints wonderful landscapes with gouache and often does it plein air. It’s been a while I want to try to paint on location too but I haven’t found the time and all the perfect tools yet.

If you happen to see similar (but not identical) paintings on her feed pay attention, chances are she went for a walk twice in the same place and painted it from a little different perspective, or just following that day’s colors. I think it’s super fascinating cause it goes to show how much a beautiful place can offer to the artist if he/she is willing to take the time to look, admire and come back to visit again like Julia does.

In the first painting you can see an amazing work on plants, bushes and water reflections. A very beautiful view showcasing the little red cabin, she said the storage was on her wish list to paint for a while, it means she knew this one would’ve been a cool composition, and she wasn’t wrong. Awesome execution as well.

The second one is a plein air straight from a beach in Hilton Head Island, and I can’t hide the fact I’m a bit jealous right now. Spending a morning on the water’s edge painting under such a nice weather, if this isn’t the perfect start for a day it has to be very close! Even tho the piece itself isn’t big she carefully painted all the kids playing in the water, the people sunbathing and a pair of wonderful crashing waves. I really like all the aspects of this one, look at the sand: you can see the difference between the wet side and the dry one! Gorgeous
