Qiqi Lin (@qiqi_llin) is my pick for today’s talent!

Qiqi Lin is a traditional artist who focuses on a specific type of style and uses the same materials over and over to achieve perfection. I’m not here to say my words should count more than any others but I’ll tell you what: I hope she will keep going with this cause the art she makes is absolutely wonderful. You will almost always find the hashtags “InkDrawing” and “Sketchbook” which are in fact the (only) protagonists of her feed. This highly vertical approach makes it so that the quality of the pieces is super high as she now masters all the little things that matter in her illustrations. On her YouTube channel she uploads fantastic sketchbook tours, if you like those you know where to find them (link below)! All sketches you’ll see here and you find in her profile are done based on photo references found online.
The first piece gives me the idea of an authoritative and influential person, a serious figure who chose the perfect companion for his life. I love how different the shadows can be, the ones on the man from the ones on the bird.. and I also think the expression she gave to this character is very well made and plays a big role in the artwork, I like it.
The second image is yet another example of her tendency to pick photos that include animals and I’m very happy she does, her drawings are fantastic and I love all the animals in general so it’s always a pleasure to find one in her art, like this elk, superb and majestic.
