Remington Robinson (@remingtonrobinson) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Remington is an artist based in Colorado, USA. His inner spirit drives him around the world to visit lots of places. He likes to get inspired by all the beautiful natural views he gets to see while traveling. I think it’s awesome to train and develop your skills outdoor, especially when it involves looking and studying nature and its beauty.
What’s the best tool to paint on if you like to travel and can’t spend hours to complete the piece? In the pictures below you’ll get the answer, a really cool item that’s easy to bring around. Don’t make the error of thinking that “small means less to paint so it has to be easier”, on the contrary some of the effects he achieves on the mini paintings are quite impressive considering he has to control everything in such a tiny place, with little space to manouver and details going as small as a grain of sand!
In the first image you can see how he painted morning lights touching a banana tree, absolutely amazing! It also looks like he reproduced his view really carefully, not just painting a random banana plant inspired by the one he sees, but painting that particular banana plant, the one in front of him, leaf by leaf, not even changing the spots where the sun illuminates it. Remarkable precision.
The second image might seem strange but that wall is actually Remington’s work. He did it in collaboration with another artist (@jasontgraves) and the size of the flowers is pretty huge. If you consider what you just saw him doing in a little metal box you realize good hands work properly no matter the situation. I love the orange flower on the right side and the gradient on the petals.
What do you think about Remington? Do you also love what’s going on here?
