Sean Budanio (@seansketches) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Sean is an illustrator based in the USA, he draws and paints a ton of characters including original works and some fan art. What’s really cool about his profile is the combination between the huge amount of material there is and the fact most of the designs are developed so deeply, in fact he explores and shares with the followers a lot of sketches giving a full view on the character.
The studies on the poses, the anatomy, the tries he makes to find the correct clothings or the angle the artwork works best with are incredibly helpful. As a person watching the art I’m fascinated by all the work and when I see steps and thinking processes I get so excited!
The first pic is what he called “Rain Girl”, a wonderful illustration that came along with a million beautiful other images containing, as I said before, some very interesting studies. Here you can appreciate the final result, but such a good showing was only possible thanks to the prep so if you like this image I suggest you take a look at the post on IG or even better maybe the artstation profile (both links are down below).
Eira the ice queen, the second project, is an illustration I liked a lot because of the coloring and the amazing job Sean was able to do with lights and shadows. Of this one there’s a quick 11 steps animated gif that gives you a perfect look into the artist’ mind in the matter of a few seconds. It’s so cool to be able to see a rough sketch turn into such a masterpiece through seemingly small changes. Every step might have been hours of work, of course, but looking at them so rapidly makes it look fantastic!
What do you think about Sean? Do you also love what’s going on here?
