Sol Barrios (@solbarriosb) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Sol is a self taught street and plastic artist from Chile and I hope you’re in for a fair bit of telling and expressive paintings because her portraits are just fenomenal.

I am amazed on how she turns a drawing into a provocative and emotional artwork with a superb use of contrasts.

Her choice to turn the body into a black and flat silhouette drives me to enstablish eye contact with the subjects like a magnet.

The limited color palette empowers the feelings of the character even more and the inclusion of the hands helps too (click on the pictures to zoom and see the full images).

Another thing to note which I like a lot is her use of the gold color. She didn’t need a lot of it but I feel like the thin lines are a masterful addition and the final result would lose a lot without them.

What do you think about Sol? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
