Steven Zapata (@stevenzapata_art) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Steven is a traditional artist based in New York, he uses the pencil to create some magic and I really hope you’ll get inspired by his art as much as I do because I think he’s one of those artists in which the raw amount of practice and dedication is clearly visible and is reflected a hundred percent on the artworks. His drawings are on another level and I appreciate when time spent on the paper is worth it, I can only imagine how many hours it takes for him to complete one of his masterpieces and I’d love to do my best to make his time super worth it. In addition to admiring all the efforts and the results I should mentions he owns a super cool YouTube channel which is fairly populated and recently also very well updated, so if you too think Steven’s art is amazing don’t miss it! The link is at the end of this post.

“Hero of Ages” is the first pic. I’m so stunned by his artworks it’s going to be hard this time to produce a meaningful comment on them. On one hand if I start talking about the details and the things I like I might get old before I’m done with it, on the other if I don’t I just feel there’s no justice cause how can you not talk about the demonic heads in the background? And what about the armor? Even the frame deserves his own spot… you get the point, it’s just amazing.

The second image is “Fallen”, for Paradise Lost and here you can appreciate a great work on the anatomy as well as one of the best lights and shadows combination I’ve seen in a while. This is pencil on paper 14″ by 17″. Steven is gifted, it’s just that simple, and you don’t need me to tell you that.

What do you think about Steven? Do you also love what’s going on here?
