Andrey Kovalik (@kovalik.art) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Andrey is a watercolorist sketcher from Ukraine. He likes to travel and for this post he sent me a few pictures of pieces he made after a visit to Italy (my country!). He says he likes Italy a lot so I’m very happy to showcase the paintings here and share with you all his amazing works and a little bit of my lands at the same time!

I think he represents reality very well and he uses the medium to its full potential. On his profile you’ll find a ton of sketches and most of them are made on location (sometimes you even get to see his outdoor equipment!), so go take a look there!

The first painting is Venice, considered by many one of the most beautiful cities in the entire world. I’ve been there a few years ago and I can’t avoid joining the crew, it’s certainly a wonderful place. In this painting I really love how he painted the canal, his ability to use light and the reflection of the buildings is stunning.

The second picture he took in Riva del Garda, it’s a nice place in northen Italy on shores of the lake Garda. The painting is super cool and he found a nice view to be able to paint houses, water, boats, vegetation and mountains! It actually seems impossible but as you can see he did that plein air so the place is obviously real and I like his choice a lot. Once again, I’m really impressed by the water!

What do you think about Andrey? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
