Benjamin Pearce (@albionworks) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Benjamin is an illustrator and animator based in London, former Design Director with a ton of experience and strong of his watercolour skills he creates beautiful illustrations mainly getting inspired by London, the city he lives.

I think he developed a style that is quite recognizable and I’m going to try to focus on the two or three things he almost always does. First of all he picks a color and that’s the one he’ll use in the majority of the painting. If the scene requires so there will be accents and different touches to contrast but all his pieces are easily categorized by their main tone. Second, he paints with a lot of white spaces between strokes and shapes, it’s not “leaving the space colorless because why not”, he makes use of the absence of color to define objects and the result is really good. Third and last the shapes he paints are almost always crystal clear, well defined, I think he’s very decise when he picks up the brush.

The first one is an awesome way to get into the “rainy mood”, one I guess London citizens are very much used to. I love the movement of the water on the ground as well as the rain drops coming down straight in (not so vertical) lines. It’s super realistic!

The second piece is very cool I love the design here and it certainly looks like the perfect living room to have a cup of tea, listen to music and get inspired watching out the window. Speaking of music, did you notice the guitar? It’s a bit hidden at first cause he once again used white very precisely. Super nice!
