Caemi (@caemielilium) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Caemi is an italian digital artist holding a very stable and particular style that makes her art profile so nice. It’s probably summarizable in two parts: she likes to use the same tones for all of her illustrations and the drawing style with a big attention for details feels very consistent.

Talking about the palette she describes it as “a desaturated palette marrying gold”. There are exceptions of course but I think the general trait of keeping the whole art totally free from bright spots is awesome, the metallic shades she uses are the closest thing to a bright color she is gonna use and as you will see here as well as in her IG feed that isn’t even a big deal cause she keeps them calm even in those pieces where they’re the dominant tone.

The first image is really captivating, I think she was able to include a strong feeling of pain, anguish.. distress. While being completely different from Mucha’s her drawings do remind me a bit about his, it has to be the palette mixed with the style. It’s strange cause if I think about it they’re two very different things, yet my mind is telling me there’s a connection. This might be it or it might not, what stands is that the artwork is awesome.

The second beautiful drwaing rings a big bell for me, I recently got back into reading manga (something I did in the past and then stepped away from without a precise reason) and I’m convinced if Caemi was the artist of one of those, keeping this style through all the story, people would go nuts for it. I would. It’s just fantastic.
