Danny Hawk (@dannyjhawk) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Danny is an artist and urban sketcher living in Berlin, he works with watercolors and ink to create awesome sketches, mostly painted on location. His IG feed is full of pictures taken where you get to see his work in the foreground and the reference, usually a building, in the background.

I especially like the fact that the sense you get by watching all of his paintings is to be looking at the diary of a man who travels a lot, finds cool places and sketches them to keep a memory. It’s a bit like following his journey and if you can recognize some of the subjects you can also start thinking at the path he went through to visit all those places.

I couldn’t go without the first picture here, that’s the Duomo in Milan, Italy, the city were I’m currently living. It’s strange how after a few times you can get used to seeing a place and forget that someone else who’s there, maybe for the first time, might be looking in the same direction with a whole different approach. A very good sketch by Danny, reminds me that the Duomo is full of little details in its majestic gothic figure.

The other two images I’ve included here showcase the use of bright colors, they make for some super likeable illustrations! Look at the roofs in the first one or the trees in the second, I love the tones he used. Another little detail that might get overlooked is the texture on the walls, really nice and well made.

What do you think about Danny? Do you also love what’s going on here?
