Emmaline Mae Kelly (@salvadordavy) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Emmaline aka Salvador Davy is a freelance illustrator and comic artist based in Roanoke, United States. The art you’re going to find in the profile is primarily focused on character portraits, with a high and very cool accent on facial expressions. I find it interesting cause it’s rare to see a standard face if you look through the posts, there’s always an emotion or an action connected to the expression and the results are of course awesome.

The passion for board games, video games, comics, movies, fantasy worlds, D&D and those sort of things certainly helped Emmaline finding the way, the portraits feel unique and very well done. I’m sure one with so many sources to get inspired from can’t ever run out of ideas!

The first image is an original piece I found very nice and emotional. This time I’m going to suggest you take a quick look at the ArtStation post cause there’s much to learn from there, given the inclusion of two process pics. I love when I can see the insights of a very beautiful painting and this one is no exception. The colors palette is gorgeous as well, this one leaves me stunned.

The second pic is so calming and since it almost worked as a background practice exercise there’s a version without Haldora (the character) and even one with colder tones suggesting what could be a rigid winter. I like the composition a lot too, the depth of the layers and their shape is definitely not a given, this one feels realistic and looks like a wonderful place.

What do you think about Emmaline? Do you also love what’s going on here?
