Henry Wong (@henrywongdraws) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Henry Wong is a Vis development artist and illustrator, he paints digitally and has no particular preferred subjects, he just paints all sorts of things. There is although a common line in most of his artworks regarding the style of his brush strokes: less details and more polygonal and basic lines. The great effect of this approach is that’s your mind in the end completing the scene and tying it all together, and the first look actually doesn’t even reveal this fact at all. You need to focus on a particular element to realize it’s a simple shape or a combination of them. I like watching at Henry’s art because it reminds me of memories, sort like when you recall an image or a moment in your mind and the very little details aren’t there, but you caught the spirit very well so you can see the colors and the shapes, you got the feelings and the environment.

The first image is stunning, it’s the perfect example of a complete scene that turns into little polygons once you start looking for details. The grass and the flowers are fantastic and sometimes they took him just one or maybe two strokes of similar colors (a light and a dark green) to complete. The variety of tones mixes up to create a wonderful foreground and the trees in the back made with simple circles are soooo good. I’m hooked.

The second pic is a slice of a larger image, I like the focus in the center tho where you can see the headlights coming your way. If you zoom in you’ll see how the lights and the reflexes on the ground look scratched, it makes them super realistic. Given those and the point of view it makes me think I’m in a car too watching from behind the windscreen, and whether that was his intention or not the final results feels amazing!
