Sarah Buchholz (@papilionism) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Sarah is a self taught artist from Germany, she likes to travel and not only in the real world by with her mind and especially her art! In her artworks there’s a lot of nature which I love, and so many other places she “visits” with a painting. One particular thing you should know about her is that she is working on Inori, a character of her own she put a lot of effort into.

Not only the passion and the study over Inori’s figure but she is also imagining and painting a story and a travel for her, giving life and basically building a complete and cohesive world where the character could be the protagonist of a new adventure. I like her attitude and the ability to stay on track for so long (if I’m not mistaken Inori “was born” in 2019!), it’s a trait to celebrate.

The first art is simply amazing! It’s a painting from the Princess Mononoke, you see the loooovely Yakul there and I agree with what Sarah wrote in the caption about it, it’s probably one of the best designed animal companions ever. I love that film so much that this wonderful representation feels touching to me. On IG she posted a few detail pics with the steps too and they’re very very interesting because you can clearly catch the layering process behind the piece, I enjoyed it a lot.

The second artwork is so beautiful!! She made two versions of it, you’re seeing the brighter one but there’s a second one where it’s darker, there’s snow in the ground aaand .. a special silhouette in the foreground. I’m not saying more you can find it on her profile! About this one I surely love the clouds and all the tones she was able to cleanly mix in the sky, it’s smooth and incredible.

What do you think about Sarah? Do you also love what’s going on here?
