Irene Meniconi (@irenemeniconi_fineart) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Irene is an Italian artist based in Florence and her artworks are going to leave you speechless! Her profile and her art in general really circles around a major subject: animals. As you may already know I’m a passionate lover of animals, they bring me joy and I just adore them all, so visiting Irene’s kingdom is always a pleasure.
A strong part of her kit is definitely the amazing skill she has with drawing and the use of ink in general, especially when she decides to highlight little shapes and create textures and shadows trough lines. It’s a huge amount of work certainly rewarded with gorgeous results.
The first pic of the froggy needs a zoom in (you can click on it to see it bigger) because it’s only when you realize how many strokes it took her to compose the whole animal that you really understand why this technique is so fenomenal. I love the drawing, the colors she chose are just perfect and the whole pen thing is the icing on the cake transforming what was already a very good artwork into a masterpiece.
The second image holds a special meaning and I think it’s represented wonderfully, it’s a gift for a wedding anniversary! The fishes are really beautiful, the couple is matching super well and I just love the way she decided to texture their bodies with two different kind of lines. The tones and the amazing background complete the whole picture very well, and the photo she took with the stones I think it’s cute and creates the ideal environment.
What do you think about Irene? Do you also love what’s going on here?
