Jo Rioux (@joriouxdraws) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Jo is an author and illustrator of children’s books and graphic novels based in Ontario, Canada. So there’s this thing with good art made for books: I love it and I immediately recognize it’s made for books (or would be great for those). It’s a special combination of palettes, way of illustrating, cuteness, I don’t know what but it’s just there. Without a doubt Jo’s style and all of her feed would fit perfectly in children’s books, no surprise many pieces do.

I especially love animal pics cause her way of making them all look cute, lovely and happy is insane. They are the link that can turn a boring day into one in which you smile more, and these days it’s something super important and much sought for. No need to say I always love to take a look at her art for this reason.

The first image is suuuuper nice, Eldi (the girl) is showing to Maple (the kitten) their neighbourhoods and when she reveals all the other cats.. look at Maple! Ahahah so funny, can already sense the presence of the scary Grimalking, King of the Cats. You see, you read a caption and the whole artwork takes a new look, it’s adorable and enjoyable. I wish I could come up with stories like this for my posts too!

The second pic is a creation that strikes me straight into my heart. Those lovely creatures are cute little.. i don’t know.. sheeps? combined with some more austere animal, growing a horn like unicorns do, but this one is a shiny little tree capable of attracting fireflies? What did I just say? It’s crazy how I can navigate freely with my imagination looking at this. And the baby kinda ram in front is so nice I want to take him/her home with me.. The horn isn’t a tree yet, poor baby, so cuuuute!

What do you think about Jo? Do you also love what’s going on here?
