Jordi Lafebre (@jordi_lafebre) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Jordi is a graphic novel author and character designer from Spain, he likes to search for stories and explore backgrounds to make them pop up in his art so when he illustrates a character you get the feeling that it’s not an empty figure but there’s more than a representation in the pic, there’s someone with passions, secrets, feelings.. a person!

A particular thing I found in Jordi’s profile is that he does comic style artworks (I mean where you get to see more scenes of the same story framed together) but he also designs characters that he then likes to illustrate over time in different situations and moments, even different timeframes of their lifes. It’s like following a neverending book full of stories regarding the same protagonists (I don’t wanna spoiler anything but some do in fact turn out to be books!). And I think all of this is great.

The first image of the couple eating cookies is so sweet! I love how she’s looking at him, at his choice. They look happy and serene, maybe the time, this strange thing we run out of so quickly nowadays, maybe the more we spend of it the higher it goes up in value. So I like to think in the future we will all take more time to appreciate a cookie with our loved ones. Or at least, it’s what this artworks is telling me.

The second image is the result of a “carte blanche” (“carta bianca” in italian) commission given to the artist. It’s when you can do whatever you want. I really love how it turned out cause I think the palette is awesome, the character’s poses are super cute and all the foliage around them builds a spectacular scene. Gorgeous acrylic.

What do you think about Jordi? Do you also love what’s going on here?
