Lisa Parfenova (@thin_liz) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Lisa is an illustrator based in Russia and she shares various artworks ranging from portraits to animals passing by environments large scenes and occasional drawings. Most of her work is done digitally but sometimes there’s a pencil artwork on a sketchbook popping up.

Something characterizing of her digital paintings is surely her passion for edgy and sharp shapes, that she uses with great mastery to build her figures. The work done behind with the tones of the palette and the construction of shadows and lights gives all the shapes a perfect place and a clear meaning, making the result feel smooth even if it’s the sum of straight lines.

I love the first image of the horses, I think she chose a super cool pose for both of them. The hoofs of the white one are spectacular and the bold chest make it austere. The black one on the contrary looks so agile and its short mane makes me think it’s one that runs super fast, I don’t know it even looks aerodynamic. They’re absolutely beautiful.

The second image is a pencil drawing, a fast sketch (30 mins). I think she did amazing and even more considering the time it took her, it’s so detailed on top there, the bricks near the window are nice, the tree looks great.. The fact that it’s less complete on the bottom part also plays on its favor in a sense and gives the impression of a spot the observer focused less onto, only grabbing the major lines, it feels very good!

What do you think about Lisa? Do you also love what’s going on here?
