Masha (@mad.robin) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Masha is a freelance illustrator from Russia, she mostly works digitally and is not afraid to take on “big and articulate” paintings. She paints all sort of things but mainly it’s about characters, people or animals, or both, doing something and living their everyday life. I said she takes on big projects because it’s rare to see a flat background with a character on top, she is great at creating a welcoming environment defining and tuning up to the smallest of details. Which in turn means the illustrations take a lot of time but are packed full with cute “in theme” items or places.

The first image is beautiful and it’s so amazing to think it all started, like she said, from a simple
I just wanted to draw a cat”
. I think it’s the real expression of art, she had an idea and wanted to paint it but then something happened and a simple subject brought along a friend and an entire world. I love the perspective and the bi-dimensional approach through layers she used, the stairs instead are the element that can run from a layer to another connecting them all and breaking the lines. I think it’s a lovely canvas!

The second pic is a nice illustration that I can somewhat relate to, cause it took her over 9 hours from start to finish and she got dragged into it by just wanting to “perfectionate” a good sketch. It happens and in the end you’ve got this mixture of good and bad feelings cause it took you a lot of time but you’re also happy with the result. Looking at this piece from the outside I feel better cause I can clearly see it was worth it, it’s a wonderful one and the amount of details she put into every single object is stunning. I hope everytime it happens to me too others can see the work I’ve put in, like I’m seeing all the good things in this one from Masha!
