Mathias Zamęcki (@mathiaszamecki) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Mathias is an art director and visual developer from Poland. He has a decade of experience working in the game, animation, and advertising field, nothing to sneeze at! To give you an idea of how much he likes to change style and subjects in his artworks I’m gonna steal a sentence from the artist himself which is going to make it super clear: not only it happens but he wants it to happen! “Diversity and the range of styles in my artworks are caused by searching for a new and fresh way to communicating my stories through art.” he says. If you take a few important notes from this one you surely want to focus on the words “new and fresh” and then “communicating my stories”. It’s a simple analysis but it tells us so much, the joy of experiencing something new and his wish of bringing stories to life. I enjoy watching Mathias’ art for these resons, because those push him to create awesome things over and over.
The first landscape is a great example of how he used the black and white sketch to come up with the division between warm and cold colors, you see the fantastic finished piece here but on IG he shared the starting study together with it and talked about the relation between the two. Love to see the steps behind such a good painting!
The second pic is just an amazing showing of the best possible use of colors he could’ve made in my opinion. This bright purple spark originating from the protagonist and giving life to the dead, paired up with the yellow sky setting the mood in “destruction, the world is collapsing” kinda mode. The drawing is also fantastic, overall a wonderful painting.
What do you think about Mathias? Do you also love what’s going on here?
