Nina Balvinskaya (@bambiwatsonart) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Nina is a traditional and digital illustrator from Moscow, Russia. She does keep herself busy with a lot of things art related since there’s an Etsy shop, a Patreon, a YouTube channel and her Instagram to look at (also manages InPrnt and Twitter if that wasn’t enough).

Her paintings are truly amazing and she has her own unique style that makes them immediately recognizable. She likes to portrait figures giving a lot of attention to emotions and the general “mood” of the piece I would say, trying to embrace the personality of the subject in the surroundings too. I really like the strong lineart she uses and the crazy and also a bit creepy environments, if you will.

The first piece is titled “And when the sun is low” and it’s about a fairy circle that was obviously related to the figure on the right. Sort of “keeping it in this world” I would guess, with the help of natural light, it’s my interpretation at least cause they both look so sad and they’re crying now that the bond was broke somehow. I think the palette she used is gorgeous for this kind of illustration, she kept everything in harmony, it’s a really good one.

The second pic is “Size of sorrow”, a wonderful painting that once again explodes in its meaning from all angles. It’s about the colors, the pose, the face, the emotions, everything brings you to the same conclusion. I particularly like the way she paints the cheeks, emphasizing them, accentuating the color and the texture. It’s a great way to give them life and the power to express a lot more. A stellar illustration!
