Roman (@lemony987) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Roman is an artist from Ukraine and what you’re about to see for him is just an hobby (meaning I don’t realize how he can be so good at it while keeping it as an hobby). He mostly sketches cityscapes or people using markers and his ability to use that specific medium is stellar. The level of detail, precision and the shades he’s able to create with them are just fenomenal.

Much like houses and streets require straight lines to be drawn his portraits also reflect it a little bit and the style is recognizable, little straight lines build up human figures very nicely. Overall a really enjoyable look, I’d love to see his cities and portraits it in some books perhaps, in my opinion they would fit so well!

The first one is a trio from Riga, Latvia. First of all splitting the main frame in three smaller parts is a winning choice, love it! The buildings are very precise, I love how he colored the street in the big one and all the small lines he used to define windows and walls. Awesome composition, wonderful result!

The portrait shows how it is that little straight lines can create a realistic human face, as I said you see there’s the hand of the same artist behind, but this didn’t stop the result from being great, one would think you need a different approach but no, this fashion girl is beautiful! I also love the coloring here too, especially on the cheeks, a masterful touch.

What do you think about Roman? Do you also love what’s going on here?
