Vanont Ruk (@vanont) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Vanont is an illustrator and sketcher based in Bangkok, Thailand. In his profile he shares lots of paintings primarily done in a loose style (when watercolors don’t define crisp shapes and edges but rather stay a bit blurry, I like it a lot by the way!). There isn’t really a main subject as he goes for landscapes, cities, food, portraits, animals and whatever else!

In his food paintings he usually takes a picture with the finished artwork alongside the reference, it’s cool but they all look so delicious I don’t really know how he gets to the end without even dropping a single bite! I’d eat both the reference and the painting for how good, realistic and tasty they all always look.

Here’s a step by step short tutorial (you can find the post with instructions in his IG feed if you want to try it) on how to paint a delicious meal. I like the “messy” state the fried egg finds itself in at the end, and overall the choice of colors and the drawing are very good. A great painting, he ate the egg cold but it was worth it!

The second picture is about an on location sketch of a boutique resort in Thailand, near the Mae Klong River. I love the precision he had to represent the wooden walls and the roof, plus the grass in the foreground made with a soft light green makes me think it really has to be a wonderful place to be in and stay a couple days. Inspiring!
