Steve Sandoval (@sketchinsteve) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Steve is a full time illustrator from California working as a visual development artist. The style he uses is original, colorful and fascinating! Part of his works I like a lot are all the cityscapes he creates using colored shapes and illustrations (he calls them colorscapes in his website).

I noticed the point of view of his artworks is mostly the one a person (probably him) would get just standing in a street and looking at a shop, a crossroad, the light or just a car passing by. I find it amazing, it makes me think he lived all the moments I see on his profile.

Most of what I see from Steve is digital but I wanted to include a plein air piece to showcase his ability with “traditional” media. I really like this gouache painting especially on how he drew the palm trees.

Look at the texture on the second image, which is a digital work on iPad. The lines going and coming from all directions create a wonderful effect!

What do you think about Steve? Do you also love what’s going on here?
