Virginia Hein (@virginiahein) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Virginia is an artist, instructor and urban sketcher from California. I actually got to know her cause I read her book first: “5-Minute Sketching: Landscapes” and I liked it very much!

There she explains useful concepts in simple steps with lots of exercises to improve your skills, I learnt many tips and tricks from her.
Alongside painting beautiful landscapes she also posts illustrations and human figures in different poses and gestures.

The little scenes you see here were made using different mediums like pencil, watercolor graphite, white gouache and watercolor. I like how she was able to mix them all so well and that she kept that orange-ish color as the accent for all the views equilibrating it with the dark areas.

Notice the difference between the last two paintings, both are made with watercolors but the first one had no preliminary sketch to start with. She made some color shapes first and added a few lines on top as opposed to the palm tree which had black fude pen lines.

What do you think about Virginia? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
