Alex Louise Hill (@alexlouiseart) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Alex is a 2D designer and illustrator from Indonesia and she likes to work on various themes using different styles and obtaining awesome results with all of the combinations I’ve seen so far. The only common ground between all the works is probably the “cartoonish” feeling (perfect for her job), but everything else is capable of surprising one way or another.

I have to admit I love all the original female characters she designs, and there are quite a lot of those, but I also found one or two instances of a fanart that blew me away (one is coming up in a sec). It surely has to do with the recent resurgence of my passion for manga yet I swear the pieces are fantastic and I would have enjoyed every bit of them even if the reference wasn’t there at all.

The first one is what I’m talking about: look at how crystal clear this illustration appears, I love the details, the flowers in the foreground, the fog in the back and the light hitting the fields in such a realistic and sharp way. Everything is adorable here, I can’t even think of a little spot I would do differently. Of course I love Attack on Titan too, which brings the illustration to “exceeding every expectation” kinda level.

The second pic being a bit of a change in theme, I like the idea that you can see the range of illustrations Alex masterfully produces is very wide. The houses and the electric line are not the kind of “protagonist” that steals a wow, usually, but this doesn’t mean it’s easy to get such a nice painting. If you look carefully you’ll see how much work and attention was required to get this level of precision, the wood for example sports a really cool texture!

What do you think about Alex? Do you also love what’s going on here?
