Cookie (@third_cookie) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Cookie is an illustrator and character designer from Poland and I can’t talk about him without saying he loves lizards, dragons and reptiles. This passion led him to explore their nature and he’s now capable of drawing super expressive dragonlike and dragonborn creatures that to me are missing nothing if you compare them to the most famous D&D (and similar) figures you’re used to see in the books or the guides.
Apart from dragons he also creates awesome humanlike characters, animals and can really draw anything fantasy style related with ease. Let’s say if I had a new boardgame I wanted to publish and the theme was fantasy I would look no further, I’m 100% confident he can handle every drawing in a fantastic way. The kind of illustrations that draw people into games, the characters all players take inspiration from when they build their own.
“Sesto the Kobold Drakewarden Ranger” is the first pic, he made it as a commission and I’m stunned by both the characters visible in this art. I think the drake is absolutely majestic, the color of the head and the change on the lower part are insanely good. Sesto is also looking super funny and Cookie was perfectly able to give him life, it’s not a drawing it’s a moment in time.
The second image deserves a zoom in cause there are so many details on it you really want to get a good look at all of them. Of all the amazing things he did I think the lighting here reigns supreme. Whoever wants to play this knight is welcome in any of my future parties by the way, if the dragonborn is half as badass as it looks in the pic there’s nothing to worry about for the rest of the campaign!
