Gerald Brom (@geraldbrom) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Brom is an author and artist that likes to write and paint about weird, demonic, rotten, but in the end just beautiful things. If you’re into horror and you like those kind of environments he’s definitely the artist you want to follow (and if you like to read too, bonus points cause he writes!).
Fun fact: when I showed my partner Brom’s pieces he was very excited to recognize so much of the art coming from Diablo, a genre defining video game he played a lot in the past and is now getting back into for the upcoming new big releases. Brom did a big part in the old game and is now sharing artworks of the “coming soon”, so I can surely say he gained a big fan! My partner went on Brom’s website (link below) to see more and found some MtG art to make it all even more exciting.
The first piece is “The Night Mare”, an award winning oil painting that stunned me from the very first second I saw it and I can bet that was the normal and expected reaction, it’s what happens in the majority of the cases when I see Brom’s art. I’m very impressed by how well he can convey emotions through his paintings. This girl’s expression is so touching.. it’s actually just amazing.
The last two pieces are from Diablo 4 and I find them extremely well made. I’m not a fan of the game itself yet I find Inarius’s armor for example to be fantastic, the light reflections are gorgeous. Both paintings have a symmetry subtheme in them which is magnetic, and it was very very cool to be able to see the sketches he shared with them. Fantastic art!
