Ilse Harting (@iruse) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Ilse is a concept artist and illustrator based in the Netherlands, her freelance work is mainly geared towards character concept arts and I think it’s safe to say she prefers to draw and paint female figures over anything else. She works digitally and has a great ability in using colors and light to empower her artworks in magical ways.
Sometimes animals pop up on her artworks and I’m always very happy when they do cause she makes them all look super cute and like “cuddle magnets”, especially when they’re cats, and you’ll see a couple of those in a second. That also reminds me I can go look for my Lapis at home (he’s my cat) and squeeze him a bit clearly against his will saying he’s fat. He’s not, but I like to tell him so cause I love him too much.
The first image is spectacular and has a few things you should know about: first of all it’s part of a short illustrated story (you can find it on IG or on her website, links are below) which is a thing she did a few times already and I enjoyed looking at them all, it’s a couple of frames basically telling a story through the images and the lines below the art. Second thing the cat illustrated here holds a very cat-ty surprise I think you shouldn’t miss, made me laugh a lot, so I encourage you all to check it out!
The second piece is so interesting if you take a minute to compare this gorgeous final result with all the “process” steps she published on the post. I think I really got to see into her mind and drawing habits a little bit scrolling by the sketch, the main colors, the shapes, all the refined objects up to the last detail (which was literally saying “plz draw me”). It was fun and a pleasure!
What do you think about Ilse? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
