Kateryna Cherniavska (@kateryna.cherniavska) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Kateryna is an illustrator, character designer and visual development artist. There is one thing in particular I love about her and her profile which are the “ToonMe” digital paintings she does, where she basically takes a picture (portrait) and re-creates part of it in a cartoonish style, placing the iPad next to the real one making it look like the continuation of reality.

It usually involves cutting in half the body vertically and therefore getting half of her face for real half through the art. I adore the way she keeps finding new themes for this kind of artworks never feeling old, they also involve quite a bit of work to get a new idea into a post and make it work. I’ll show one here and if you like it her IG profile is stacked full so you know what to do!

The first image is in fact one of her ToonMe paintings, Ratatouille themed this time around! She matched her make up really nicely so I like the eyes a lot, and the addition of Rémy (it’s the little rat, the protagonist of the film for those who don’t know it) makes it all super cute. It’s also kind of a way to imagine her into the animation, what would she be like if she was a character? Well, now you’ve got… half the answer!

The second picture is super sweet and magical, I can relate to it soooo much. Do you see the happiness on her face? It’s the effect the first snow of the year does to kids (ok let’s be real I still suffer from the same “wow this is so cute and heartwarming” effect when it snows and I’m not a kid anymore). The painting brings me joy and it’s really beautiful, I couldn’t ask for more.

What do you think about Kateryna? Do you also love what’s going on here?
