Liz Steel (@lizsteelart) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Liz is an artist, author and teacher from Sydney, Australia. She loves to sketch, has been doing that for many years and when she hops on a trip with her tools she’s also one of the most prolific sketchers I’ve ever seen.

If you take a look at her website (link below) there’s a bunch of articles where she describes her “big sketching day” and shares lots of paintings and cool details about the places she visits and what was going on. It’s funny, inspiring, very nice to see and also super impressive: on her visit to Venice in 2019 for example she filled 22 A4 pages of her sketchbook in one day. Every sketch I saw was beautiful and most were colored too. I really suggest you to take a look!

The first image is an awesome way to feature a few pages of one or more sketchbooks, I love the idea and the matching style between the three sketches. The fact that sometimes she puts details and elements in the foreground that are not “strictly” connected to the background is unique and very nice, you can immediately imagine why they’re there even before reading the notes, and it adds something to the whole experience. They’re usually food or teacups (she loves them, especially the ones with chinese decorations)

The second image is coming directly from her trip to Venice, I love the attention she put on lights and shadows and the calm colors she used to finish the painting. Plus it’s always cool to see people travel the world and come to “my” Italy to sketch a bit of all the art there is here.

What do you think about Liz? Do you also love what’s going on here?
I’d like to discuss today’s talent with you in the comments below!
