Mathias Ball (@sulkypup) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project
Mathias is an illustrator based in Canada and owns the cutest IG profile ever (and a bunch of other websites too, links below at the end of the post as usual). Most of my excitement has to come from the animals, I’m sure, but in general I love every artwork from Mathias I see so I’m sure the puppies are not the only reason why I like the art so much.
The pieces are colorful, joyful, they have a perfect combination of colors and shapes, they usually fill up all the canvas without ever looking chaotic.. It’s a lot of things to imagine all at once, it’s not even close to being a complete list of the awesome traits you’ll find in his artworks, yet he produces so many of them.. It’s like if this was easy except it’s not. Gives me the illusion of walking through masterpieces with them being the ordinary, it’s amazing!
The first one is a wonderful gif, we’re almost reaching the end of this series and it’s the first time I pull up one of these.. I could not resist. It looks so good tho, I’m watching it over and over while I write this comment and now I’m kicking myself for not including more of these earlier. If I could have a moving avatar for everything it would be something like this, with the same level of happiness and love.
The second artwork is the perfect illustration for a children’s book. A ferocious and scary tiger just became your best friend, the art is “wrapped” around the kid in the middle and the “frame” it creates is welcoming and so sweet. All the lines creating the details are wonderful, they’re like the not strictly needed additions to the figure that bring it up from ok to absolutely wonderful in the matter of a few strokes. So nice!
What do you think about Mathias? Do you also love what’s going on here?
