Mike Lowery (@mikelowerystudio) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Mike is an illustrator and author living in Atlanta. He creates illustrations for children, the funniest cartoons I’ve seen in a while and is always traveling with a sketchbook. Even tho the subject of his works is almost always a drawing there’s so much text in his art, love it.

Mike’s works carry a humorous vein hidden under all the pieces that aren’t made and meant to be read by kids. He usually just puts in plain sight something normal that will look weird at your eyes given the context.

The first image is an awesome idea brought to paper, I can’t stop laughing. So basically what you’re looking at is a one star review of central park left from an unlucky person who lost his meal to a squirrel and got laughed at by children. Mike took that moment and gave everyone a view of the sad experience. If you like this kind of stuff you’re in luck today, it’s an episode of a bigger series and you’ll find more of it on his IG feed.

The second image of “Charles Boycott” is a super cool way of showing a fun fact, a real one! That’s also coming from a series of posts where you’ll learn interesting things. I really enjoy the style he uses and the fact that at first glance it all looks like a praise flyer but once you read it you realize there’s not much to congratulate about. Nonetheless, every one I read leaves me the taste of time well spent!

What do you think about Mike? Do you also love what’s going on here?
