Mimi is an author and illustrator based in Los Angeles, owner of the Mimochai studio she loves to create stories, transform stories into illustrations, or both!
Before we get started let me tell you a fun fact: Mimi was the protagonist of an ad from Skillshare, maybe you’ve seen it already, Skillshare is the same platform I use to share my courses online. When I told my partner “today’s talent is Mimi Chao” he said “I know her! Meet Mimi Chao! she is a very good artist” in fact “meet Mimi Chao” was the first sentence of the ad, and he still remembers it. So without further ado now that we know she’s famous in my house and the mark of approval of “very good artist” has been given by my partner let’s take a look at some of her works.
“We are one” is the first illustration sharing a wonderful message of love for earth and all the animals. I really like the whale, especially the belly! On her profile there is a second version with a different background, there is prevalence of blue and accents on pink, go take a look! This one even became a sticker you can buy on her website.
The second image is so beautiful, she shared a step of her process showing how it all started from a vague idea of a boy and a girl sitting on a trunk while watching the sky, becoming then the final illustration where she refined all the details and put actual faces to the characters. I find it clean and relaxing.
