Oona Holtane (@oona_who) is my pick for today’s talent!
If you don’t know what A Year on Talents is here you can find the description of the project: A Year on Talents Project

Oona is an illustrator and character designer, she posts lots of human and animal characters, they’re always adorable and you know I’ve got a passion for pets so I love them all. She has absolutely no fear to experiment with different poses, palettes and expressions and I like it. I think she might like cold colors more than warm ones, maybe it’s just an impression of mine or maybe she does it naturally without even thinking about it but I see there are many blue, green, purple, pink-ish artworks on her feed. The kind of posts I like the most are those in which she studies a protagonist in various positions, trying to picture it while doing different actions. I enjoy them cause she takes very strange poses and also funny ones if you will, and watching them all together does really feel a bit like getting to see a full character from a movie during the craziest scenes.

The first image is exactly what I’m talking about, look how cute this little boy is while playing with the fish or while he’s reading. I love all the faces she was able to differentiate here and the naturalness of all the movements, which isn’t easy to be fair cause to make a character not look “plastic” is a tough task. It’s a combination of facial expressions and body language that feels realistic, for example the boredom that comes out from the part in the center of the art where he’s studying is absolutely incredible and real. Exceptional skill!

That’s not my fault! .. Come on have you seen him?”. That’s what I’m thinking about when I see the fox, to me it’s like a mixture of a desolate guy with a sad one, it does look a bit like someone that’s trying to explain the failure in front of him. Or maybe he’s going like: “This? Really? You promised a proper reward..” knowing he’ll get nothing more. Apart from the fantastic expression I also find the colors to be incredibly amazing, especially on the face and the end of his tail, where the change of tones is just about perfect!
